90% of Employers don’t know what to do with you…

"The Golden Ticket To Success"

It’s true, 90% of Employers don’t know what to do with you.

But the same can be said about most people and themselves. I can speak for myself, who worked for most of his early and mid 20’s and still didn’t have a clear vision of where I was going. It sucked.

For me The Golden Ticket to success was go to school, get a College Degree for you can get a good job. I can honestly say my Degree got me a lot of interviews, but not once did my degree get me a job.

The skills I learned on my own have been more beneficial to me, than the skills I learned through formal education.

For me it was never about the skills, but more about seeing the bigger picture. See 10-15 years ago the internet was just getting to become what it is now, but I can only imagine what I could have done with all this info in my hands now.

15 years ago I realized people expected a certain amount of knowledge from you, if you're wearing a uniform or if you sell something. Doesn't matter where, who, or how, but you are the authority in that field. You could have 20 years experience or it could be your first day, It doesn't matter because your expected to perform and deliver. I worked as a Sales Associate at Lowe's Home Improvement. For 8 years I walked around in a red vest saying hello to people I didn't know wondering how their day went or if they needed any assistance even though I just wanted to clock in, clock out and call it a day. I always avoided the customer who once you see them from your peripheral vision I would without hesitation go to the next aisle just to avoid the interaction.

Realizing this now, if you want to become an authority in any field, you have to sell something and put your brand hat on. It’s no different to what I’m doing now. The only difference is that I’m using my brain more deliberately in ways I can be more creative and think freely without someone else telling me how or when. If you want to escape the modern day job and pursue your ambitions. Start now or someone else will for you.

In my 15 plus years of experience, your boss isn’t any better than you. You can probably even run the company better than most. Most employers lack people skills and knowledge of how fundamental things work. They only see what they want to see. I’ve worked for or worked alongside someone who has had zero knowledge on how to lead, train, and/or connect with their employees.

It’s not their fault, most of them were either given, inherited or got bored and started a business in a completely different industry because hey, why not.

First, they'll hire you, this is called the (Honeymoon Stage). Second, poke at you in hopes you will change their business with a magic wand(Delusional Stage). Finally, they'll blame their lack of judgement and expertise on you(Self-Awareness Stage). You're the expert, you're the specialist, but you're not. You are just cog in the machine to help them make more money.

There is a lot of wasted time in the normal 9-5. No one is working 8 hours straight. Let’s be real honest here, 4-5 hours is probably the sweet spot where your brain is processing at a high rate, functioning at 70-90%. Humans are not Robots. The ideal work day should be 4 hours, it’s proven to be more effective and the flow state is considered to be 2 hours once concentrated on a task. So why do we waste time?

It’s a good question, and I’m here to help you address it. If we have 4 hours to work on something we’re really passionate about, why waste time? Let’s take a look at my Clarity Chart.

Time Management, Skill Development, Idea generation, Project Execution.

Divide these areas into categories for clarity. The power of clarity lies in its ability to lift the veil of our immediate circumstances, revealing unseen potentials and unexplored roads. Once your radar is set, focus comes naturally.

Similar to adjusting a lens and knowing exactly what to capture, we must fine tune our focus to perceive the true essence of what is really important. Below I have some questions for you.

Clarity Chart 2024, Rodrigo Roque IV

If you want to take control of your life, ask yourself these 4 questions from my Clarity Chart:

  1. Are you willing to put the Time? Do you have the bandwidth to put in 30 minutes, 2 hours, or whatever it takes to put a dent into the life you want to pursue?

  2. Do you have the required Skills to pursue those ambitions? What skills are required?

  3. What is the main driver to your Idea? Is your idea a passion or is it more money-motivated?

  4. What will it require for you to Execute this idea? What is stopping you right now?

These Clarity questions really go deep into your real life wants and needs. If you’re so anxious to get started and your first instinct is to find shortcuts; than it’s really not that important to you. What ever it is you want to pursue in life, you will follow through the process. Your future self will thank you.

Ideas are easy. Execution is hard. Consistency is harder.

Looking back, I just was not happy with what I had to offer to the World. Telling people which end cap the LED lightbulbs that are on sale were located, really wasn’t doing it for me. I knew there was a higher place full of fulfillment for me and when you know your skills can offer more, you feel like a waste to society.

Call it life, call it work, there really is no excuses when you want something. Sometimes it takes more than a couple swings to get your first home run.

I believe the will to continue and go through the trials and errors will overcome skill any day of the week. I’m in my mid 30’s now and I have a more clear vision of where I want to go. Now I can say as a self-employed creator, I now have the Golden Ticket.

Whoever is first in the field and awaits the coming of the enemy, will be fresh for the fight; whoever is second in the field and has to hasten to battle will arrive exhausted.” - Sun Tzu
